The Rother runs deep (up to 13ft) and flows gently along this stretch. However, if there is a lot of water in the river, typically after a lot of rain, the main sluice gates are opened, and it will run much faster.
The swims near the road bridge have very steep banks but do have steps cut into them. Carry on along the track and through the gate next to the pump house, and the banks will ease until, eventually, they are just a few feet above the river.
This stretch of the Rother offers great fishing with all methods throughout the season.
Species - Trout, Roach, Rudd, Bleak, Dace, Chub, Bream, Tench, Carp, Perch, Pike, Eels
