All anglers will, if requested by the riparian owner or other person authorised by the Society, produce evidence of their right to fish Society waters. Any Rye Society member may ask for sight of anothers permit to fish.
All persons using Rye & District Association facilities must show their physical or digital EA Licence and Society permit to the authorised Bailiff (upon production of his own RFA identification), and they must behave towards the bailiff in a polite and civilised way at all times. Any person making any sort of threat or subjecting the bailiff to any form of abuse, verbal or physical, shall (if asked by the Bailiff) leave the fishery immediately.
Angling shall be by rod and line only a maximum of 2 rods using bait, fly or lure. No live fish to be used as bait (disease control purposes).
Fishing for pike is STRICTLY reserved for Society members only.
Barbless hooks to be used with baits and lures.
Any person fishing Society waters, shall be in possession of the required rod licences and will observe all close seasons and relevant bylaws and any regulations as may be applied. Examples lf using 2 rods they must not be more than 3 metres apart , and you must be within 3 metres of them. Do not leave a rod unattended with a baited hook in the water. No lead weight above one ounce to be used
All fish to be returned to the water from which they are caught Unhooking mats or similar material be used for fish welfare.
No 'fixed rigs' to be used which in the event of a line break could restrict the fishes movement
Access to Association waters shall be by way of authorised gates and paths only. Any person trespassing onto adjoining fields or other property will be banned from further access to Association waters.
The 'Country code' is to be observed at all times, in particular:-
No damage is to be caused to any fence, hedge, noticeboard, bank or other structure Shut and fasten all gates
Livestock must not be harassed
No bait to be dug at the bankside or adjoining fields.
No fires to be lit or dogs to be brought onto Society waters.
No firearms, traps snares or similar to be carried or used.
No game to be interfered with or damaged.
No tents or ''bivvies'' to be pitched. No vehicles to be driven or parked onto adjoining fields or banks or in any way which may cause an obstruction.
No litter or rubbish to be left.
No one to commit an act which might prejudice the fishing or other rights of the Society in any way.
No radio or similar noisy appliance to be used.
The use of a gaff prohibited
Night fishing is prohibited unless with the express written permission of the Society or the relevant riparian owner.
If keepnets are used they shall be knotless minnow mesh, at least 6ft long and 15'' in diameter lf round or 18'' x 12'' if rectangular.
11. The committee of the Society shall have the right to expel any person if in its judgement there is a breach of the rules.
Rother Fisheries Association Rules
a) Fishing from dawn to dusk only. No overnight stays are permitted. All persons must leave all RFA waters no later than sunset and must not arrive before sunrise.
b) Maximum two rods.
c) No live fish to be used as bait, and all fish of all species to be returned alive to the water without any undue delay, and to be handled correctly and responsibly.
d) Fishing for pike is restricted to the period October 1st – March 14th inclusive and is further restricted to members of RFA clubs only. No Day Ticket angler may fish for either Pike or Perch on RFA waters at any time.
e) No dogs, fires, barbecues, camping, boats, or weapons are permitted.
f) The Close Season of March 15th– June 15thapplies to all RFA waters.
g) All persons using RFA facilities must show their physical or digital EA Licence and club permit to the authorised RFA Bailiff (upon production of his own RFA identification) and they must behave towards the bailiff in a polite and civilised way at all times. Any person making any sort of threat, or subjecting the bailiff to any form of abuse, verbal or physical, shall (if asked by the Bailiff) leave the fishery immediately.
h) When fishing on RFA waters, all anglers will fish subject to the Rules of the Club to which they are a member EXCEPT that if there is any difference between their own Club Rules and RFA Rules, the RFA Rules will take precedence when the angler is fishing on RFA waters.
i) In the event of any matter arising which an RFA member or Bailiff considers may be in breach of any RFA Rule, the matter will be referred to the Club to which the angler belongs, and that Club will then deal with it as it sees fit. If an angler belongs to more than one club, it will be the Club whose membership permit is produced as identification when fishing which will be the Club to which the matter is referred
j) All people fishing on RFA waters must at all times adhere to the relevant Environment Agency (EA) byelaws in force at the time, and before fishing they must ensure they are aware of these, for example, that before fishing they must have the correct and current Environment Agency (EA) Licence to Fish.
