The Moat

Overview

Set in a beautiful rural location well off the beaten track and with just 4 fishable swims, The Moat offers a lucky few a highly enjoyable and peaceful day of fishing.

Species - Bream Carp, Roach, Rudd, Tench, Perch

The Moat is open to anglers year-round from 7 am until dusk each day

Directions

From Coldharbour Lane (between Iden and Peasmarsh), go down Readers Lane for 0.25 miles, then turn left into an area of farm buildings. Continue through the yard and into the lane for another .25 miles. The Moat will be on your left.

An aerial view of the immediate area can be seen in the photo gallery below.

Parking is available in the orchard before the Moat or at the far end to the left, past the houses.

What Three Words - ///gobbling.politics.responses

*Recent change to The Moat opening hours*

A quick heads‑up for all our enthusiastic early‑bird anglers.

While we admire anyone keen enough to turn up at 4:30am, the local dogs have been treating these dawn arrivals like the social event of the season — and the neighbours’ alarms have been joining in for good measure.

To keep things peaceful (and to let the residents enjoy their morning in blissful silence), fishing at the Moat is now only permitted between 7:00am and dusk, each day. Turning up earlier won’t make the fish bite any faster, but it will make the neighbourhood considerably livelier than anyone wants at that hour.

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.
